Four women, friends for 28 years, decided to have a reunion in Australia’s
Northern Territory Top End.
Northern Territory Top End.
With a local guide, two vehicles, bottles of champagne and a sense of adventure, the women commenced their ten-day tour in Darwin, headed south to Katherine, then north east to Kakadu National Park and onto Litchfield National Park before returning to Darwin.
It was hot. It was humid. It was beautiful. It was green. It was stunning. It was relaxing. It was exciting. It was wet. It was a trip to remember. It was the Top End in ‘the wet’.
Darwin, with its diversity and variety, cafes serving great coffee and food, endless coastline, stunning sunsets, extensive harbour, Asian-inspired food, delicious gelato and ice cream, World War II history, indigenous art work, slower pace of life than other capital cities, beautiful botanical gardens, impressive street art, kept the group interested and happy.
Katherine, with its history, Katherine River and the spectacular 13 gorges, hot springs with constant warm water springing up from underground, birdlife, centre for Indigenous art and culture, museum, shops, cafes, was a great town to slow down even further.
Kakadu National Park, with its bird and wild life, Yellow Water wet land abundant with bird and wild life, crocodile shaped hotel, small community, Foodworks for shopping, indigenous art gallery with great coffee, provided a quiet and relaxing time.
Litchfield National Park, with its rockpools, waterfalls, walking trails, termite mounds, lookouts with stunning views to the horizon, bush tucker, provided a different experience of a natural environment in the Top End.
